DESCRIPTION:Tickets are now on sale for the Wilmette Historical Museum's 31st annual Spring Housewalk\, "Historic Homes Transformed\," to be held on Sunday\, May 20\, 2018\, from 1:00-5:00 p.m.  This year's housewalk features four beautiful historic homes in east Wilmette\, including one Local Landmark. Homeowners have embraced original features of each home while transforming the interior spaces to suit their individual tastes and lifestyles.  The homes provide four great examples of ways to enjoy living in an older home in 2018.  Housewalk highlights include beautiful original fireplaces\, pristinely maintained custom wood paneling and ironwork from the 1920s\, as well as dramatic\, modern kitchens and rustic contemporary interiors with old barn wood beams and doors.  Ticket-holders will tour inside a gracious home designed by Edwin Clark\, architect for Plaza Del Lago's Spanish-style complex and many of the Thorne Rooms at the Chicago Art Institute\, a beautifully restored 1880s home with original barn\, and two elegant homes from the early 1900s\, one a Local Landmark.           \n\n \n\nGuides will be on hand to enhance the interior tours with details about the history and beautiful\, architectural elements that give each home its unique character.  An informative brochure about the history\, architecture and early owners of the four homes is included in the ticket price. The housewalk is a great event for history buffs\, home remodelers\, and for those who are just curious and would enjoy an afternoon stroll and a fun outing.\n\n \n\nThe Spring Housewalk is held each year to support the work of the Wilmette Historical Museum in preserving our village's past. Tickets purchased in advance receive a discount and are $40 for Museum members\; $50 for non-members\; and $25 for students in grades 3 or above.  (This event is not appropriate for younger children.)  Advance tickets may be purchased until Monday\, May 14th at 5:00 p.m. by visiting the Museum's website at www.wilmettehistory.org\, calling the Museum at (847) 853-7666 or stopping by the Museum\, 609 Ridge Road\, during regular hours\, Sunday through Thursday\, 1:00   4:30 p.m. Starting on Tuesday\, May 15th\, tickets are $50 for Museum members\; $60 for non-members and $25 for students.
