On Wednesday March 19, Solstice Stained Glass will host Chicago's first ever Stained Glass Invitational Exhibition. In collaboration with our friend and colleague Larry Zgoda, the Invitational is taking place at: Solstice Stained Glass 2010 W. Fulton Street Chicago 60612 12 noon to 7 PM Wednesday 19 March A dozen of Chicago's professional stained glass artists will be showing new, original works, as well as restorations of windows from from the Chicago area. We will be highlighting aspects of our art including painting, restoration, lampmaking, stenciling, and other skills unique to the stained glass art.
Come see a live demonstration of how stained glass painting is done. Among the more unusual items, a unique panel by Edgar Miller as well as a demonstration of Miller's lead cutouts will be shown - and we will have the book, "Edgar Miller and The Handmade Home," available for purchase. Also, you will be able to learn about the meticulous techniques applied toward restoring Tiffany windows.
Guests are invited to bring images and questions about their stained glass, which may be answered by our team of hands-on scholars.
This one-day event is part of the Day of Glass, taking place in conjunction with the 43rd annual Glass Art Society Conference, being held in Chicago for the very first time.
