Making Sense of a Complex Story: The Trump-Russia Investigation
Wilmette resident and retired Kirkland & Ellis litigator Steven J. Harper will present “Making Sense of a Complex Story: The Trump-Russia Investigation.” During the program, Mr. Harper will discuss the Trump-Russia Timeline that he created as an experienced lawyer in an effort to identify and assemble all of the relevant facts about this ongoing chapter of American history.
The timeline, which Mr. Harper has been continuously updating since he established it in January 2017, is hosted on journalist Bill Moyer’s website, billmoyers.com. MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell has called the Timeline “the greatest tool that we journalists have to work with every day as we stare at this story.”
Steve Harper worked as a litigator at Kirkland & Ellis LLP for 30 years before retiring in 2008.. He is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University’s Law School and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. His articles and op-eds have appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Salon.com, Huffington Post, and Business Insider.
He has written four books, including Crossing Hoffa: A Teamster’s Story and The Lawyer Bubble, and blogs at The Belly of the Beast. He and his wife have lived in Wilmette for 30 years, and they have three adult children.
This event is part of the Wilmette Public Library’s 2018 One Book, Everybody Reads series, which is featuring author Amor Towles’s bestselling novel, A Gentleman in Moscow, this spring.
