The Hermitage - Russia's Artistic Treasures
Dr. Alice Boone, Woman's Board Fellow at the Art Institute of Chicago, will talk about the collections in the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The museum was founded in 1764 by Empress Catherine the Great.
Dr. Boone earned her B.A. in English Literature from Barnard College, followed by a Ph.D in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, where she specialized in eighteenth-century British literature and media culture. She curated the Candide at 250: Scandal and Success exhibition at the New York Public Library. She has taught at Haverford College, the William Andrews Clark, Jr. Library at the University of California-Los Angeles, and the University of Delaware. The Woman's Board Fellowship offers her the opportunity to retrain in the field of museum education, after a career in academia.
